Hitting the Ground Running

Day three at the clinic! We found a old time "weight loss" machine. Anyone remember pictures with rows of women standing on vibrating boards to lose weight in the 60s? I have always wanted to see one!!! It was everything I thought it would be. I think I lost 10 pounds today! :-) Now, I just need to see if it will fit in my suitcase.

The prosthetists worked their butts off casting, modifying, and pulling test sockets while the therapists kicked the butts of the patients! :-) The new limbs are coming along nicely! It is so fun to watch the prosthetists from our team teach the Ukrainian team! Laura and I pushed the patients through a 10 station HIIT(high intensity interval training) workout under one condition..... they are in charge of my workout tomorrow. Say a prayer for me! :-) After lunch we focused on core stability training. When someone loses a limb, their pelvic stability and alignment are always at risk. Some simple training techniques from the prosthetist and the therapist can decrease their risk of chronic low backpain. Look out for a blog post on those specifics in the near future! In the meantime, I'm going to prepare for a tough Ukrainian workout tomorrow. Wish me luck!
